Sildarvinnslan is Iceland's largest producer of fishmeal and fish oil, with operations centred on pelagic species such as herring and capelin. The company exports the vast majority of its production and operates a fleet of fishing vessels and processing plants. Fisheries is one of Iceland's most historically important export industries.
