STIR operates Tunisia's main oil refinery located in Bizerte, processing crude oil for domestic fuel consumption. The company is central to Tunisia's downstream energy infrastructure and supplies refined petroleum products to the local market. It is majority-owned by the Tunisian state through ETAP and Société Tunisienne de l'Electricité et du Gaz.
