United Microelectronics Corporation is one of the world's largest semiconductor foundries, providing wafer fabrication services for logic and specialty ICs across nodes ranging from mature to advanced. UMC serves customers in the communications, consumer electronics, and computing sectors and operates fabs in Taiwan, Singapore, and Japan. It was formerly integrated with TSMC and became an independent foundry in 1980.
