Petrobras is Brazil's state-controlled integrated oil and gas company, responsible for the vast majority of the country's oil production, particularly from ultra-deepwater pre-salt reservoirs. It operates refineries, pipelines, and a petrochemicals segment and is one of the largest companies in Latin America by market capitalisation. The federal government retains a majority stake through direct and indirect holdings.
