Coal India is the world's largest coal mining company by output and is a Maharatna public sector undertaking under the Government of India, producing the majority of India's domestically mined coal through its subsidiary companies. It supplies coal primarily to the power and steel sectors. Coal India accounts for approximately 80% of India's total coal production.
