Halkbank is a state-owned Turkish commercial bank primarily serving small and medium-sized enterprises and craftsmen, in addition to individual retail customers. It was established in 1938 and operates hundreds of domestic branches and international offices. The Turkish government holds a controlling majority stake through the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).
