Kardemir is one of Turkey's major integrated iron and steel producers, operating a long-products steel plant in Karabuk using the blast furnace route. The company produces railway rails, beams, wire rod, and other structural steel products primarily for Turkish infrastructure and construction markets. It is Turkey's main producer of railway rails and a supplier to the Turkish state railways.
