Cerro Verde is one of Peru's largest copper and molybdenum producers, operating a major open-pit mine near Arequipa. The company is majority-owned by Freeport-McMoRan and is a key constituent of Peru's mining export base. Its expanded concentrator, completed in 2015, made it one of the highest-capacity copper operations in the world.
