Cerro Verde is one of Peru's largest copper and molybdenum producers, operating an open-pit mine in the Arequipa region. It is majority-owned by Freeport-McMoRan and also has Buenaventura and Sumitomo as shareholders. The company completed a major expansion in 2015 that nearly tripled its milling capacity.
