Fondul Proprietatea is a closed-end investment fund listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange that was established to compensate Romanians whose properties were nationalized under the communist regime. Its portfolio consists primarily of minority stakes in large state-controlled enterprises including Hidroelectrica, Romgaz, and Nuclearelectrica, making it a diversified proxy for Romanian state assets. The fund is managed by Franklin Templeton and conducts periodic share buybacks and redemptions.
