Argentina is Latin America's third-largest economy by nominal GDP, with a diversified base spanning agribusiness, energy, mining, manufacturing, and services. The country is a major global exporter of soybeans, corn, beef, and wheat, and possesses the world's second-largest shale gas reserves and fourth-largest shale oil reserves at Vaca Muerta. In late 2023 President Javier Milei launched sweeping fiscal-adjustment and deregulation reforms that sharply reduced the fiscal deficit and brought annual inflation down from 211% in 2023 to approximately 118% in 2024 and further toward 30–35% by end-2025. Argentina reclassified as a frontier market by MSCI in 2019 following its 2018 currency crisis, and its equity market is traded on the BYMA (Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos). Persistent structural challenges include high inflation, recurring sovereign-debt stress, capital controls, and exchange-rate complexity.

Argentina allows foreign nationals to reside under the Rentista or Pensionado categories upon demonstrating regular foreign income; no specific investment quantum is mandated by law. The country offers a relatively low cost of living in USD terms, particularly in Buenos Aires, and issues DNI (national identity document) to permanent residents. Tax residency rules changed in 2018 and individuals who become Argentine tax residents are taxed on worldwide income; prospective relocators should obtain independent legal and tax advice.
