Bahrain is a small island nation in the Persian Gulf with a high-income, diversified economy anchored by financial services, aluminium smelting, petroleum refining, and tourism. It is one of the region's leading Islamic and offshore banking hubs, hosting hundreds of financial institutions regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain. Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world's largest single-site aluminium smelter outside China, is a cornerstone of the industrial sector and the largest company listed on the Bahrain Bourse.
