Panorama económico e industrial

Côte d'Ivoire is the largest economy in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), with nominal GDP of approximately $87 billion in 2024. The country is the world's largest producer of cocoa (roughly 30% of global production) and a significant exporter of coffee, palm oil, and cashews, with agriculture accounting for about 14% of GDP. The economy has sustained approximately 6% annual real GDP growth over the past decade, supported by infrastructure investment, an expanding extractives sector including offshore oil and gas at the Baleine field, and a growing services industry. The CFA franc's peg to the euro provides monetary stability, and Moody's upgraded the sovereign rating to Ba2 in 2024. Abidjan serves as the commercial and financial hub of Francophone West Africa, hosting the headquarters of the BRVM regional stock exchange.

Acceso a brókers locales

Direct investment in BRVM-listed equities requires an account with a licensed Société de Gestion et d'Intermédiation (SGI) — a BRVM-authorised broker-dealer. Approximately 25 licensed SGIs operate across WAEMU member states, several headquartered in Abidjan. Non-resident foreign investors may open accounts with SGIs subject to KYC/AML requirements. Settlement is conducted by the Dépositaire Central/Banque de Règlement (DC/BR) on a T+2 basis. US-based retail investors typically access BRVM exposure indirectly via frontier or pan-Africa ETFs, as no major US-listed retail broker currently offers direct BRVM order routing.

Reubicación y residencia

Visado de inversión / programa de residencia

Subvenciones No formal investment-migration programme

Côte d'Ivoire does not operate a formal codified citizenship-by-investment or residency-by-investment programme comparable to Caribbean or European schemes. Foreign nationals may obtain long-stay visas and residence permits through standard immigration channels administered by the Direction Générale des Étrangers. There is no published minimum investment threshold that automatically confers residency rights.

Acceso para inversores extranjeros

Foreign nationals wishing to reside in Côte d'Ivoire must apply for a long-stay visa and then a residence permit (carte de séjour) through the Direction Générale des Étrangers. Expatriates employed by companies operating in the WAEMU zone typically obtain permits via employer sponsorship. The country has a relatively open posture toward skilled foreign professionals and investors, but no streamlined investment-for-residency fast-track exists as of 2025.
