Côte d'Ivoire is the largest economy in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and one of the fastest-growing economies on the African continent, averaging approximately 6.4% real GDP growth over the past decade. The country is the world's largest producer and exporter of cocoa beans and a leading exporter of cashew nuts, with agriculture accounting for a significant share of export earnings. Beyond agriculture, the economy is diversifying into services, telecommunications, energy, construction, and extractive industries including gold mining and offshore oil and gas. Abidjan serves as the financial and commercial hub of Francophone West Africa, hosting the headquarters of the regional stock exchange (BRVM) and numerous multinational corporations. The CFA franc, pegged to the euro, provides monetary stability, while ongoing IMF-supported structural reforms continue to improve the business environment.

Direct investment in BRVM-listed equities requires an account with a licensed Société de Gestion et d'Intermédiation (SGI), a BRVM-authorised broker-dealer. Approximately 25 licensed SGIs operate across WAEMU member states, several headquartered in Abidjan. Non-resident foreign investors may open accounts with SGIs subject to standard KYC/AML requirements. Settlement is handled by the Dépositaire Central/Banque de Règlement (DC/BR) on a T+2 basis. US-based retail investors typically access BRVM exposure indirectly via frontier or pan-Africa ETFs, as no major US retail broker currently offers direct BRVM order routing. Capital repatriation is governed by UEMOA foreign exchange regulations.

Côte d'Ivoire does not operate a formal golden visa or citizenship-by-investment programme. Foreign nationals wishing to reside in the country must apply for standard residency permits (carte de séjour) through Ivoirian immigration authorities. Long-stay visas and residency permits are generally tied to employment contracts, business registration, or family reunification. Requirements and processing are handled by the Direction Générale des Étrangers (DGE). Abidjan has an established expatriate community with international schools, private healthcare facilities, and a relatively developed urban infrastructure by regional standards.
