Aperçu économique et sectoriel

Ghana is a lower-middle-income economy in West Africa with a diverse base spanning gold and cocoa exports, oil production, financial services, and a growing telecommunications sector. Nominal GDP reached approximately $82.8 billion in 2024 (World Bank), with real GDP growth of 5.6% in 2024 and 5.8% in 2025 driven by services and private consumption. The country completed a significant debt restructuring under an IMF Extended Credit Facility programme begun in 2023, which helped stabilise the cedi and bring inflation down sharply from a peak above 50% in 2022 to single digits by early 2026. The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), established in 1990, is the country's principal equity market, with current market capitalisation of approximately $25 billion (mid-2026). Key structural challenges include fiscal consolidation, high youth unemployment, and dependence on commodity export revenues.

Visa d'investissement / programme de résidence

Subventions Investor residency permit (not citizenship); diaspora Right of Abode available separately

Ghana does not operate a formal golden visa or residency/citizenship-by-investment programme in the conventional sense. However, Ghana offers a 'Right of Abode' for members of the African diaspora under the Joseph Project and the Year of Return initiative, which grants indefinite residency rights to persons of African descent. Standard investor residency permits are available through the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) for qualifying foreign investors who meet minimum capital thresholds (typically USD 200,000 for joint-venture enterprises or USD 500,000 for wholly foreign-owned businesses). These are residency permits, not citizenship pathways.

Accès pour les investisseurs étrangers

Foreign nationals wishing to reside and work in Ghana must obtain the appropriate visa and permit category (e.g., investor visa, work permit, or immigrant quota) through the Ghana Immigration Service. The GIPC investor permit requires proof of minimum capital investment. The Right of Abode, available to persons of African descent, grants indefinite residency and the right to work without a separate permit. Accra is the main business hub; cost of living is moderate by regional standards though rising. Ghana's official language is English.
