Oman is a high-income, oil-dependent economy on the southeastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, with hydrocarbons accounting for roughly half of GDP and the majority of government revenues. The sultanate has been actively diversifying under its Vision 2040 strategy, targeting growth in tourism, logistics, manufacturing, and financial services. The Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) has expanded significantly, reflecting a wave of IPOs and capital market reforms undertaken since 2021. Oman maintains a fixed exchange rate peg of approximately 0.3845 OMR per US dollar, providing monetary stability. Key trading partners include China, India, and the UAE, with petroleum and re-exports dominating the export basket.
