Panorama económico e industrial

Indonesia is Southeast Asia's largest economy and the world's 17th largest by nominal GDP, reaching approximately $1.44 trillion in 2025. The economy grew 5.11% in real terms in 2025 and has maintained above-5% growth for several consecutive years, supported by domestic consumption from its 284 million population. Key export sectors include coal, palm oil, nickel, and copper, with Indonesia holding the world's largest nickel reserves and being the world's largest palm oil producer. A rapidly growing digital economy, large state-owned banking sector, and downstream mineral processing push from the government are reshaping the country's economic profile. The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) listed 956 companies as of end-2025, with total market capitalization of approximately $700 billion.

Acceso a brókers locales

Interactive Brokers provides access to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for eligible clients, allowing non-residents to trade IDX-listed equities in IDR. Saxo Bank also offers IDX access through its global platform. Locally, foreign residents can open accounts with Indonesian brokers such as Mandiri Sekuritas, BCA Sekuritas, BNI Sekuritas, Indo Premier Sekuritas, and Mirae Asset Sekuritas. Opening a local brokerage account typically requires a valid passport, KITAS (for residents), NPWP (Indonesian tax number, which foreigners can obtain), and a local bank account for IDR settlement. Non-residents trading via international brokers bypass most of these requirements but may face currency conversion costs. Settlement on the IDX is T+2.

Reubicación y residencia

Visado de inversión / programa de residencia

Subvenciones Temporary residency (renewable via Second Home Visa, 5–10 yr)

Indonesia launched a Golden Visa program in 2024 offering 5-year or 10-year residency permits to foreign investors. Investment options include government bonds, bank deposits, or publicly listed company shares (minimum USD 350,000 for a 5-year visa; USD 700,000 for a 10-year visa). Establishing a local company requires USD 2.5 million (5-year) or USD 5 million (10-year). A separate Nusantara (IKN) Golden Visa for the new capital region requires USD 5 million (5-year) or USD 10 million (10-year). By September 2025 over 1,000 residency permits had been issued under the program. The existing Investor KITAS (Limited Stay Permit) remains a parallel route for foreign investors actively establishing or investing in an Indonesian PT PMA company. Neither program confers citizenship.

Acceso para inversores extranjeros

Foreign investors may purchase shares of publicly listed companies on the IDX without the foreign ownership restrictions that apply to direct business investment — publicly listed shares are generally exempt from the sector-specific caps in the Positive Investment List under Presidential Regulation No. 10/2021. However, some sectors retain foreign ownership caps even for listed shares (e.g., banking is capped at 40% aggregate foreign ownership). To invest, foreigners must open a securities account with an IDX-member broker and obtain a Single Investor Identification (SID) number issued by the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI). Foreigners residing in Indonesia on a KITAS or Golden Visa can open local brokerage accounts in person; non-residents can access the market through international brokers that provide IDX connectivity.
