Aperçu économique et sectoriel
Tunisia is a North African frontier-market economy with a diversified base spanning manufacturing (textiles, electronics, automotive components), tourism, agriculture (olive oil, cereals, dates), phosphate mining, and hydrocarbons. The country's services sector accounts for roughly 68% of GDP, with industry at around 22% and agriculture at 10%. Nominal GDP reached approximately USD 53.4 billion in 2024 per World Bank data, with real GDP growth of about 1.6% that year, recovering toward 2.5% in 2025. Persistent structural challenges include elevated public debt (around 82% of GDP), a chronically high unemployment rate above 15%, and a large fiscal deficit. Tunisia is classified as a frontier market by both MSCI and FTSE Russell; its main exchange, the Bourse des Valeurs Mobilières de Tunis (BVMT), hosts around 74–77 listed domestic companies predominantly in the financial sector.

Accès aux courtiers locaux
Direct retail access to the BVMT for non-resident foreign investors is limited. Trading must be conducted through licensed Tunisian brokers (Intermédiaires en Bourse) authorised by the Conseil du Marché Financier (CMF). Foreign portfolio investment is permitted but capital account restrictions and dinar inconvertibility create practical friction. International investors typically access Tunisian equities via frontier-market ETFs or through a locally licensed brokerage account. There are no internationally known online brokers with direct BVMT access for retail clients outside Tunisia.

Subventions No formal investment-migration programme
Tunisia does not operate a formal golden visa or citizenship-by-investment programme. Foreign nationals may obtain residency permits through investment or employment channels under general immigration rules administered by the Ministry of Interior, but no structured investment-migration pathway with a defined minimum investment threshold exists as of 2024–2025.

Accès pour les investisseurs étrangers
Foreign nationals may reside in Tunisia on renewable annual residency permits. A carte de séjour (residency card) is available to those employed locally or operating a registered business. Tunisia has a relatively low cost of living by Mediterranean standards. Certain categories of foreign investment are subject to prior authorisation under the Investment Law (Law No. 2016-71). Currency controls apply and the Tunisian dinar is not freely convertible, which affects repatriation of funds.
