Gambaran umum ekonomi & industri
Mauritius is an upper-middle-income island economy in the Indian Ocean with a nominal GDP of approximately USD 14.95 billion in 2024, making it one of Africa's more prosperous nations by per-capita income. The economy is highly diversified, with services—particularly financial services, tourism, and information and communication technology—accounting for the largest share of output, complemented by manufacturing (textiles, food processing) and a small but significant sugar/agribusiness sector. Mauritius serves as a regional financial hub and gateway for investment into Africa and India, benefiting from a network of double-taxation treaties, a competitive tax regime, and a well-regulated banking sector. Real GDP growth was approximately 4.7% in 2024, moderating to an estimated 3.2% in 2025, while headline inflation averaged 3.6% in 2024. The Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM) is one of the leading exchanges in Africa, operating the Official Market and the Development & Enterprise Market (DEM), with total market capitalisation exceeding USD 8.5 billion across both boards.

Hibah Permanent residency (renewable); pathway to citizenship after qualifying residence period
Mauritius offers several investment-migration routes administered by the Economic Development Board (EDB). The Permanent Residence Permit (PRP) via approved real estate schemes (IRS, RES, PDS, Smart City) requires a minimum investment of USD 375,000 and grants long-term renewable residence valid as long as the property is held. The Investor Occupation Permit requires a minimum USD 50,000 investment in a Mauritian company and is issued for up to 10 years, renewable. The Premium Investor Certificate targets projects of at least MUR 500 million with bespoke incentives. A Premium Visa (introduced 2020, revised 2022) caters to remote workers, retirees and high-net-worth individuals as a long-stay visitor status. In April–May 2026, the Government announced plans for a formal golden visa-style residency pathway. Citizenship by naturalisation is possible after 5–7 years of qualifying residence (reduced to 2 years with a USD 500,000 property investment).
