Slovenia is a small, open, high-income economy in Central Europe and a member of the European Union and eurozone since 2004 and 2007 respectively. The country consistently ranks among the most developed economies in Central and Eastern Europe by GDP per capita. Direct retail access to the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) for foreign investors is typically arranged through Slovenian or regional brokerage firms such as Gorenjska banka, NLB Skladi, Alta Invest, or InterCapital Securities. Some European online brokers (e.g. DEGIRO, Interactive Brokers) provide limited access to LJSE-listed equities. Liquidity is concentrated in a handful of blue-chip names; most stocks outside the SBITOP index trade infrequently. Settlement is in EUR via the KDD central securities depository.

Zugang für ausländische Investoren

Slovenia is a Schengen Area and EU member state. Non-EU nationals generally require a valid residence title (work permit, study visa, family reunification, or other legal basis) to reside long-term. After five years of continuous legal residence, non-EU nationals may apply for a long-term EU residence permit. Naturalisation is possible after ten years of continuous legal residence. The country has no dedicated digital-nomad visa as of 2024, though remote workers may apply under general employment permit rules.
